plant of the day

I'm a big fan of 'tiered' plants like this 'salvia clevelandii' and Jerusalem Sage. There must be a botanical name for that tiered quality. Drought tolerant, evergreen, aromatic, bees love it. Native to Southern California.

coreopsis 'Tiger Stripes'

Here's a plant, new this year (via Annie's Annuals), that's been blooming its head off for the last few weeks. The first couple photos show the younger blossoms, then as it ages...

We are lucky to have local nurseries that carry Annie's, but an actual trip to her nursery in Richmond is a must for true plant lovers.
